New book!

Hello everyone it’s Samantha again~

I’ve started on another book and this time, it’s Natsume Soseki’s Botchan! (I’ve also realised I read books at a scary speed XD)
It is a popular classical literature by a Japanese author and if I am not wrong, Japanese students are taught with this classic novel during their literature classes ^^
I’m more than halfway into the book and I must say, it really does encompass how Botchan, the protagonist (again, the story is told from first person narrative), comes to terms with the shift from old Japan to modern Japan as he rides the waves of various challenges into adulthood.
Given that this is just my perspective only, I am sure others who have read the book may think otherwise ^^

There are a few translated versions of the book but I just took whichever was still available on the shelves.
I really respect the translators whom work their heads off to translate literature from a foreign language to English because they need to keep a lot of things in mind, for example, to keep the nuances of the foreign language as close as possible to the translated version (in my case, that would be English).

Moving on, I’d be getting my hands on the whole series of Toshokan Sensou (lit. Library Wars) which I will be borrowing from my friend later 😀
It would also mark the very first time I’m going to be reading books in….
Japanese!!!!!!
I can’t wait for the experience and hopefully I don’t end up spending 90% of my time figuring out the terminologies/vocabulary used in the novels 😛
