刈り上げ女子 (Kariage-joshi)

Today I’d like to talk about a cool style that’s quite popular in Japan – 刈り上げ女子 (Kariage-joshi).

In English, 刈り上げ is a style for women with shaved sides and back. It looks similar to a man’s cut, but by keeping the fringe slightly longer and the shape kept close to the natural head shape, it actually creates a cool and sharp image while maintaining the femininity of the style.

In Japan, the idea of a “gap” is very popular. For example, girls with cool, boyish hairstyles would wear girly, frilly dresses with boots; or girls with long and elegant hairstyles would dress up in more masculine clothes. Maybe Singaporean women can try this out too! ^_~
