Henna Hair Dye

Hi everyone! Today we’d like to share with you about Henna hair dye. Henna is a term that most of you should be familiar with, but we would like to share some information about it.

Henna is actually a plant with leaves that have been harvested, dried and ground into powder, and next made into a paste that is used to dye hair and even your skin and nails! Thus, Henna is an all-natural hair dye unlike the conventional hair dye that contains chemicals. You can dye your hair with Henna youself without the help of hair stylists, although hair stylists may aid you in applying the paste over your hair more evenly. It is definitely more healthy than bubble hair dyes and conventional hair dye as it is free of chemicals.

However, there are some points that you have to take note of before using Henna:

Henna does not make your hair lighter. Unlike bleaching, it does not lighten your hair and thus if you have a dark base color, you cannot achieve bright colors with Henna.
Henna does not fade out. Hence, it is better for you to experiment with a few strands of hair before dying your whole head with it!
You cannot dye your hair with conventional hair dye or bubble hair dye after using Henna, especially if the Henna you are using is not all-natural. (note: do always look at the ingredients on the box before you purchase it!) There have been cases where a person’s hair have been burnt or damaged badly after they dyed their hair with chemicals after using Henna. This is because the ammonia compounds in chemical hair dye reacts with certain compounds in the Henna dye. In addition, because of the compounds within Henna, you may not achieve an even shade of color after dyeing it with conventional hairdye. Take for instance, if you dye one strand of your hair with Henna and dye it over with conventional hair dye, you will notice that some parts of that strand of hair will appear darker than another part.
You can only dye/highlight reddish colors such as orange or brown over Henna dyed hair as other colors won’t be able to stay on as easily. Otherwise, you would have to bleach your hair first, which will be very damaging!

For sure, there is much more about Henna then what we have written here but these are some key points that we would like our customers to keep in mind! Especially for those of you who dye your hair frequently but do not want to damage it, Henna is a great choice that you can try. Although Art-Noise is not carrying any Henna products, do feel free to bring your own hair dye along and just inform our friendly stylists that you would like to dye your hair with it instead (^ ^)
