Types of colouring techniques BALAYAGE / GREY COLOUR
Customer's preference The customer wanted a grey shade as the new hair colour.
Advice from the stylist From jet black hair, bleaching is a definite step to get the hair light enough to colour the grey on. However, if the whole head was to be bleached, it would stress out the hair very much and would make it difficult for the customer to change his/her hairstyle the next time. As such, to minimise the stress on the hair, a balayage technique was recommended. Balayage means that both the bleach and the new hair colour would be blended in from mid-point to create a gradation effect.
Customer's thoughts on the outcome The customer was extremely satisfied with how natural-looking the final product turned out.
Stylist's thoughts on the outcome It is actually very tough for the colours like grey and ashy series to come out nicely on Asians, which is why a one-time bleaching process is the usual procedure taken. However, it will be challenging to perm the bleached hair if the customer wants to get a perm done during the next salon visit. Hence, this particular technique would ensure that the hair is minimally damaged, and that the customer will be able to do an image change the next time if s/he wishes to do so.
