一期一会 “one time, one meeting”

Good afternoon from Joanna! How is everyone doing?

Today the theme of my entry is “一期一会 (ichi-go, ichi-e)”, which roughly translates to “one time, one meeting”. It is a Japanese concept that reminds us to truly appreciate each meeting with a person as if each meeting is our only meeting.

Here at Art-Noise, we hold this concept close to our hearts. When a customer comes in with their concerns about their hair, we listen very carefully and work with them to find out what is best for them. This is why our consultations take a long time (sometimes up to half an hour!).

Also, we do not recommend services just for the sake of recommending. We hold your interests in mind. For instance, if a customer wants to do a perm but if we find her hair condition unsuitable, we will recommend say, waiting longer before doing the perm, or recommend other alternatives based on her goals (e.g. if she wants more volume in her hair, we will recommend layering or hair styling, instead of perming).

The spirit of ichi-go, ichi-e enables our hairstylists to be energetic for long work hours – because we believe in what we do! 🙂
