Heat Damage

Hey everyone, did you know that heat damage can com in many forms? Damage done to you hair by heat is one of the main reasons for split ends so let’s find out more about the causes of heat damage and how we can avoid them!

As we all know, Singapore is notorious for its hot weather. Especially when the sun is shining down intensely, going out under direct sunlight for long periods of time can be damaging for the hair. Consider using a treatment cream that comes with protection from UV rays or even as simple as wearing a hat when you go out.

Another main source of heat damage is the hair dryer. Sometimes when we want our hair to dry quickly, we tend to turn up the temperature setting on the dryer and this is not advisable! Exposing your hair to high temperatures at high intensity causes heat damage easily which in turn leads to dry and split ends. The recommendation is to use a lower heat setting whenever possible and keep the dryer about 30cm away. Doing this will help reduce the intensity of heat that reaches your hair and prevent it from becoming too damaged.
