Is stress one of the reasons for an itchy scalp?

Do you know the causes of an itchy scalp? Often, the scalp itches because of an infection caused by an unhygienic scalp. Even if you shampoo your hair well, an incorrect way of washing your hair can result in stress which causes itch. This page will look at the causes and prevention methods of itchy scalps and the correct way of shampooing your hair.

 The causes of itchy scalps

A common reason for itchy scalps are an infection of the scalp which can be caused by a dry shampoo. When the hair has not been washed for a few days, the bacteria within the scalp will multiply resulting in an infection. If the hair is not shampooing properly or insufficiently, the shampoo can be considered too strong for the scalp.

The scalp can become itchy as a result of an infection in the scalp because of stress

As the bacteria multiplies, it becomes easier for your scalp to get an infection. When the scalps starts to sweat from vigorious exercise or stress, it can become moldy. Daily stress and influence from hormones can lead to stress in the scalp. When your body is tired or has insufficient sleep, your hormone balance will be negatively impacted resulting in a drop in the metabolism for the production of new cells in the scalp and hence an itchy scalp. Shampooing your hair is essential, and so caring for your hair by preventing hair stress.

Ridding of stress on the scalp

Massaging your scalp

By massaging your scalp, it improves the blood circulation and relaxes the scalp.

Massage your head slowly by using the ball of your fingers and applying pressure. Do take care not to scratch the scalp with your fingernails or apply too much pressure. It is recommended to do it one to three times a day for about three to five minutes each time.

Improving your lifestyle habits

Without sufficient sleep, there will be a negative impact on the scalp causing an itch. So do ensure that you have a well-balanced diet and get enough rest. It is best to relieve your stress through entertainment or engaging in your hobbies.

The correct way of shampooing hair

While shampooing your hair daily keeps the scalp clean, when it starts to itch often, there may be a possibility that the way you are shampooing your hair is wrong. Let us look at the correct way of shampooing your hair

Brushing

There is a possibility that the scalp will be damaged if the hair is wet before shampooing??? It is recommended to brush your hair first before shampooing it. This will help in preventing split ends and hair breakage as well. Brushes made out of natural pig or boar fur would be better for your scalp compared to brushed made of nylon or resin which causes static electricity when you brush your hair???

Wetting your cut properly

Wet your hair evenly. It is especially important to wet your scalp, so that the shampoo will bubble sufficiently

Shampooing your hair

Apply the shampoo to your scalp and rub it in from the center of the scalp. Use the ball of your fingers to softly rub around the scalp. Refrain from using your fingernails to scrub to wash your head, just gently massage your scalp as if you are tracing a coin.

Rinsing properly after shampoo

Without proper rinsing, shampoo particles will be left behind in the scalp which can cause irritation. This is also one of the causes of itch. Place the shower head in contact with your scalp and ensure that sufficient water is used to rinse your hair. Using more shampoo does not mean that that hair will be cleaner, it is better to use the proper amount of shampoo

There are many cases when the wrong method of shampooing has led to an itchy scalp but it is also possible that stress to the scalp can be a cause too. It is recommended for you to take note of both points and take the right preventions.
