Do you know the correct way to use a hair dryer?

Advice for your hair from a professional hairstylist.

After shampoo or for styling, the hair dryer is something we use everyday. Drying your hair properly is essential for healthy scalp and hair but not using it properly can cause damage instead. Is the way you're using it ok?

What happens if I use the wrong drying methods?

Advice when using the dryer.

- Avoid over drying with the heat.

Not drying your scalp properly can cause bacteria to grow and is the main reason for itch or odours. When drying your hair, try to blow the hot air towards the roots while rubbing your scalp gently. When rubbing, use the ball of your fingers to prevent damage to the scalp. When your roots are dried, the ends should be almost dry as well. After this, use cold wind to blow dry the rest of your hair. Using cold air will help close the cuticles and is useful in damage care.

- Do not put the same area under heat for too long

There is a "Killer Move" that you can use. That is wrapping towel around your hair. Using a dry face towel, wrap it around your hair and then blow dry it. The towel will absorb the moisture from your hair while the dryer keeps the towel dry. This means that the towel will be able to absorb more and speed up the  drying process. Before, doing the killer move, towel dry your hair first, and comb through your hair using a brush or comb. This will help to keep it neat after drying.
